We got so many great emails about daddys from lots of people...some were funny, some were seriouse but they all told of how wonderful their daddys' are. I couldnt choose just one and bc I have TWO great dads in my life (my husband and my dad) I thought I would do 2 winners...
The first really hits home w/me for a couple of reasons. First, When I look back on my child hood now, I realize that we did not have much (as far as money goes) but I never knew it growing up. All I remember is how close my family was and how much we did as a family...biking, swiming, movies...we always had a great time doing the simple things in life. And also because my father led by example. he was a man of God who always put God first in his life...at home, at work or around town. He was never embaressed of his faith or judgmental in it either. He knew at the end of the day the most important thing was to teach us how to Love...to Love God and others.
So....the first winner of the fathers day contest is this email...
_"I would like to nominate my husband, Gary, for the PERFECT DADDY!!!. He is the most selfless human being I know....he has taught my kiddos 8, 5, & 15 months what it means to be compassionate and love others as God loves us. Every day he teaches them to be the best they can be & glorify God with everything they do. He is so giving.....every night he always makes sure he has time with the kids whether it be swimming, watching kid movies, or making late night snack for the kiddos even after he's so tired from flying weekly to Virginia. Recently, my husband was let go from his executive position.....we were use to buying whatever we wanted whenever we wanted....God has showed us that we can enjoy the simpler things in life which don't cost alot....we've been biking, swimming, going to the park, camping, & going to the beach.....we've had the time of our lives & it's so awesome to see what a great husband and Dad God brought me & we are so blessed!!!!!"

The other winner of this contest reminds me of my husband. I remeber the day Adi was born and how I could see in his eyes how she had changed him forever. Even at a young age, Michael was hard on Caden...he wanted him to grow to be a man of God and a wonderful husband. To be honest and fair. I think that is a lot of pressure on a daddy and not having a dad around when he was young made it a learning process for the both of them. But as he held this sweet little girl it seemed to release him from the burden of responsiblity he felt as a parent. He felt free to just love her. I cant explain it but I know all you with little girls know what I am talking about. It would not be a rare occasion in our house for Michael to be playing tea party...or babies....or dress up...he just loves his little girl and he is a better father and husband for it...
So...the 2nd winner wrote this...
My husband was one of three rough and tumble, dirt covered, horse riding, car racing, sport playing boys. Even all the cousins on his father’s side were boys, and as the brothers grew up, all the grandchildren born were boys, boys, boys.
Then, two-and-a-half wonderful years ago, a princess entered the family. The big and burly Daddy who always assumed he’d have all boys, had a daughter. A beautiful, dimpled cheek, girly girl who in a matter of moments changed that manly man into an adoring daddy.
So, what do you ask makes this Daddy so incredible and worthy of accolades?
• The list starts with a pink bear. A giant, overpriced pink bear from the hospital gift shop that a Daddy bought his day old daughter, stating, “I told myself I wasn’t going to spoil her, but when she was laying on my chest in the middle of the night, I told her I was going to spoil her rotten.”
• He is the Daddy who for the last two years has walked across the house early in the morning to be the first face his daughter sees, from the time she was only weeks old and cried because she was hungry, until the present, when she calls out, “Daddy, I’m ready to get up.”
• He is the Daddy who when working 60 hours per week, takes a day off to spend alone with his daughter. Donuts for breakfast, McDonalds for lunch, ice cream from Sonic for a snack, you get the idea.
• He is the Daddy who takes his two-year-old daughter with him to play golf with the guys. How many men I ask you, do you know who do that?
• He is the Daddy who dresses his daughter in camo (albeit girly camo) and frequently takes her to one of his favorite stores, Cabela’s, to show her the elk, hogs, fish and other animals any outdoorsman would appreciate; but also suffers through taking his wide-eyed toddler to the Botanical Gardens so she can see the butterfly exhibit.
• He is the Daddy you see at Home Depot shopping with his daughter in her Cinderella pajamas.
• He is the Daddy who said that the first dance with his wife at their wedding would be his first and last, but can often be seen dancing with a little tutu wearing girl around the living room.
• This incredibly abbreviated list ends with another pink bear. This one wearing (can you guess?) a pink camo skirt and containing a recorded message from a devoted Daddy who knew there would be nights work would keep him from tucking his daughter into bed. Over the intercom last night could be heard, “Hello Munchkin, This is your Daddy, I love you soooooo much!”
